About the Premier League
The English Premier League (EPL) is the top tier of professional football in England and one of the most popular and competitive leagues in the world. Founded in 1992, the Premier League replaced the old First Division and quickly grew into a global sporting brand.
The league consists of 20 clubs, each playing 38 matches (home and away) across the season, which usually runs from August to May. At the end of each season, the team with the highest number of points is crowned champion, while the bottom three clubs are relegated to the EFL Championship, and three new clubs are promoted.
